MBA Student Films to be Featured on NECAT Stations

This month, Nashville's NECAT stations- Nashville Education, Community, and Arts TV- have created a celebration of local filmmakers with a special feature called Artober.  Each night this month, local-made films and videos are run on the arts channel, and works by three MBA students and one faculty member are being featured prominently.

A short film by Jacob Lothers entitled "Lyla Mae" is part of the line up. Jacob created the film as an entry in the Full Moon Film Festival (FMFF) for high school students.  His longer, directors cut was submitted and accepted to air this month.  Jacob has been developing his shooting and editing talents while at MBA, and he's part of Red Tower Productions, the film and video club.

Two music videos by Cameron Travis are being shown, featuring the musical talents of Si Deane, Luke Wooten, and others.  "The River" was created for the FMFF last year based on a original song by Deane and Wooten's band. "Gonna Get You Back" is a newer video also based on an original song by the group.  The collaboration has created great work, and the partnership continues as a new video is in the works to be shown at a future MBA music concert.  The two student filmmakers are also in Red Tower Productions.

MBA's video director, Barry McAlister, also has several entries in the special showings.  His comedy sketch "Hotel Humphry" was shot at Nashville's Two River's Mansion last year with an MBA video crew.  It features McAlister's character Humphry, who was Nashville' TV horror show host for two years on "Nightmare Theater."  Other entries are "Offload," a modern dance piece by McAlister's two daughters, and "Babble," a fun dubbed-over piece from the 1950's.

These MBA works are listed under Barry McAlister in the schedule, and are to air again on October 7th and October 23rd between 7 and 9 p.m. on Comcast channel 9 in Davidson county and AT&T U-verse channel 99.  Click here for more information on the schedule.
