Nicholas Patricca Visits MBA

Nicholas Patricca, MBA's 2014 Artist-in-Residence, arrived on campus this weekend and will be attending rehearsals of his play (our competition show The Fifth Sun) and classes during this coming week. Nick is professor emeritus at Loyola University Chicago and playwright emeritus at Victory Gardens Theater, Chicago. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, is an active member of the Dramatists Guild, president of Chicago Network for Justice and Peace, a member of the Writers in Prison (Freedom to Write) Committee, PEN International (San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Chapter). His most recent literary awards are ‘The Oscar Wilde Award,’ Dublin, Ireland, May 2006, and an ‘Alexander S. Onassis Distinction Prize’ in tAthens, Greece, August 2006. His plays are produced internationally as well as throughout the USA, are translated into Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese, and published by the Dramatic Publishing Company (USA, England, Australia, New Zealand). 

Join us for the performance of The Fifth Sun (directed by Rick Seay) on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. and meet Nick at the reception in the Gibbs Room following the show. The Fifth Sun incorporates Mayan mythology as it chronicles the story of Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador, who was assassinated as he celebrated mass on March 24, 1980.
