Nine members of the Class of 2020 earned National Merit Semifinalist honors for their scores on the PSAT/NMSQT during the fall of their junior year. The list of Semifinalists includes: Aden Barton, Zach Brown, Richard Cummins, Will Farner, Matt Hawkins, Matthew Kaplan, Dan McGuire, Stewart Moore, and Thomas Zeuthen.
This year there are approximately 16,000 National Merit Semifinalists across the country chosen from the 1.6 million entrants in the competition. These high school seniors have an opportunity to continue more than $30 million in National Merit Scholarships to be awarded in the spring of 2020. About 90 percent of the students selected as Semifinalists are named Finalists, and approximately 7,500 will earn National Merit Scholarships.
