MBA Debate Off to Great Start This Season

The MBA debate team is off to another strong start, winning two of its first three tournaments.  Many of the individual debaters have been ranked as some of the best debaters in the country.

The MBA debaters started the year off with a strong tournament win at the Season Opener at the University of Kentucky, with the team of Atticus Glen and William Bradford winning the tournament.  Atticus Glen was also named the tournament's top speaker out of a hundred and forty other debaters.  The first year debaters were also impressive, with the teams of Ben Bozza and Asher Maxwell, and Alex Barnard and Marshal Greene both finishing as semifinalists in the first year division.

The MBA team was then the only squad to have two individual teams invited to the Greenhill Round Robin, which serves as a preseason top sixteen ranking each year.  The team of Aden Barton and Julian Habermann won their pod of eight teams with a perfect 14-0 ballot count.  They then defeated North Broward Prep in the final round to win the Round Robin.  The team of Atticus Glen and William Bradford finished second overall in their pod.  Aden Barton was named the top overall speaker of the round robin.

At the Greenhill Inivtational there were one hundred and twenty teams from across the country. MBA's top three teams advanced to the elimination debates as the third, fifth and eighth overall seed.  The team of Atticus Glen and William Bradford finished with an impressive quarterfinals finish, while the team of Jack Rankin and Jack Harrington finished as the overall third place team out of the very large field.

MBA is likely to have three out of the top five teams in the first release of the upcoming National Coaches Poll, which is something that's never been done.  They look to continue their success at New Trier in Chicago next week, and then St. Marks in Dallas the following week.
