MBA Debate Wins Prestigious Barkley Forum Again

The MBA Debate team clinched first place at the 64th Barkley Forum for High Schools at Emory University, the second victory there in the past three years and the third trip to the finals for MBA in a row. MBA won its first Barkley Forum in 1976. Facing off against Woodward Academy, the team of Julian Habermann and Aden Barton won 9 ballots out of 13 judges to claim the win and earn the prestigious Silver Key award. Also part of the successful weekend, the teams of William Bradford, Atticus Glen, Jack Harrington, and Jack Rankin all reached the Sweet 16.
 
Coach Josh Clark was inducted to the prestigious Gold Key Coach Society of the Barkley Forum for High Schools by Director of Debate Kevin Hamrick. MBA holds the record for most members of the Gold Key Society of the Barkley Forum for High Schools at Emory University: Evelyn Anderson Campbell (1964); Selma Earnest Ridgway (1971); William Woods Tate, Jr. (1983); Dennis DeYoung (1989) ; Alan Coverstone (1999); Kevin Hamrick (2012); and Josh Clark (2019).
