MBA opens season with hard-fought win over BA

The 2019 fall season kicked off on a beautiful summer's afternoon with a 5-0 victory over BA by the Junior School tennis team. Although BA were only able to field six players and so had to forfeit the no.2 doubles line, there was plenty of fight in the other matches, especially at the top. Two players making their Big Red debuts helped us put some early points on the board with 8-1 wins at no.1 doubles for Billy Rennhoff and James Buntin, and in a strong first performance at no.3 singles for Porter Frist. Meanwhile, Ethan Bittles at no.1 singles and Dawson Stone at no.2 singles were nip and tuck all the way through the set, with a tie-break looking likely in each towards the end. Thankfully, both Ethan and Dawson stepped things up at the crucial moment and both won their matches 8-6 to give us the overall sweep. The match was played in a great spirit by both teams and we look forward to the return fixture at BA in a few weeks time.
