MBA Debate Finishes First in the Country; Debate Coach Honored

This past week, the National High School Debate Coaches Poll released its final poll of the season, and the team of Montgomery Bell Academy Aden Barton 20' and Sam Meacham 21' was unanimously ranked the number one team in the nation.  Sam and Aden finished the regular season winning thirty-five consecutive debates and won first place at the Barkley Forum at Emory University, the California Round Robin, hosted by College Prep School (CA) and the UC Berkeley Invitational.
The National Debate Coaches Association also announced its end of season awards, and Montgomery Bell Academy Debate Coach Austen Yorko was awarded the Rising Star Coaching Award, given to the top-ranked coach who is in his or her first five years of coaching.  Austen is in his third year coaching at MBA and has formed a great relationship with the debaters, done hundreds of hours of research to help the team's success, and is a highly preferred judge on the national debate circuit.  We are very fortunate to have him on our Big Red Debate coaching staff.
