Project Graduation

List of 4 frequently asked questions.

  • What is Project Graduation?

MBA's Project Graduation (PG17 or PG) was started 28 years ago by a group of concerned parents who wanted to offer a safe, alcohol and drug free environment for students to celebrate graduation. The catalyst for this event was a tragic accident involving an MBA senior. This event is sanctioned by the national organization, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). An added benefit to an organized event, like PG, is that it is an inclusive way for ALL students to spend one last night together. It has been very successful in eliminating smaller, exclusive, private parties that do not include all students.

Project Graduation is an MBA tradition and most years 100% of the class participates. On Thursday, June 1st, the boys will meet back at MBA after graduation at 10:30 p.m. It is here where they will check in. Attention Moms! We are bringing back the Mother Son Dance! It is a 20 year tradition that built community and made memories of a lifetime for our boys. Far be it for us to deprive our sons. Currently, we are planning to hold the mother son dance on campus, in the Currey Gymnasium. Following the dance, the boys will depart on buses to Boost Fit Club.  Each participant must download and sign a liability waiver here

The night includes games, music, prizes, favors and food!  The boys will remain at Boost Fit Club until 4:00 a.m. They will return to MBA the next morning for a sunrise breakfast on “The Hill.”  Their final meal together as the class of 2017. The festivities will conclude at 5:00 a.m.
  • The Contract and Rules

We need you to help ensure that your son participates. The MBA experience is a memorable one and hopefully all graduates will remember how much fun they had celebrating one last night together as a class.  Please read the attached Project Graduation Rules and Contract and sign and mail the Contract and entrance fee to:  Julia Johnson, 1322 Burton Valley Road, Nashville, TN 37215. If you would like to pay the $150.00 PG fee online you can click here:  www.mkt.com/MBAprojectgrad
The contract specifically states, No Alcohol or Drugs will be used the night of the party. Should your son decide to leave the party, he will not be re-admitted and the parents will be notified.
Along with this contract, a small fee is charged to participate. Both contract and money are due by Wednesday, March 15.
  • How Can I Help?

The event is coordinated and manned by MBA faculty and senior class parents. The success of the event is due to the large part to parent participation. Some parents will want to work on committees, most will want to work on shifts the night of the party, and hopefully you will all support the event
