A 1992 graduate of MBA, Patrick Hale was the youngest member of MBA’s Alumni Association when he was elected to the Board in 1999. He loved MBA and served the school and its community faithfully throughout his short life. Sadly, Patrick was killed in a hit and run accident on Houston Street in NYC in May of 2003 while he was attending Columbia Business School. His legacy, however, will always be defined by his wonderful spirit and sense of friendship, his service to others, and his leadership at MBA, SMU, Columbia, and in those communities he resided.
MBA named its Golf Tournament in honor of Patrick. The P. Hale Golf Tournament has raised over $1.5 million for the school's endowment dedicated to need-based financial aid. This honor was bestowed upon Patrick Hale because of his service, leadership, and selfless devotion to MBA and his friends and those he helped over the years. His short life will long be honored and remembered for these qualities and by those who knew and will remember him each year in this P. Hale Golf Tournament.
