Mock Trial Places 5th in the Nation
The 2016 MBA Mock Trial team competed against 45 other state champions in the National High School Mock Trial Championship held in Boise, Idaho on May 13-14, 2016. The team placed fifth overall in the Championship with a record of 3-1, winning against teams from Guam, Missouri, and Massachusetts and dropping a close match against a team from Idaho.
In addition to this excellent result for the team, sophomore Jack Capizzi received one of the ten Outstanding Witness awards that were presented in the awards ceremony following the competition for his role in portraying the plaintiff in the mock trial case, which involved a claim of livestock trespass brought by a Basque sheepherder against a powerful Idaho cattle rancher.
Other team members were seniors Andy Zhu, Cole Campbell, Cameron MacDonald-Surman and Nolan Spear, juniors John Cooper and Andrew Kaplan, and sophomores Daniel Cowan and Harrison Kidd.
