MBA Athletics has a championship week ahead, with both the varsity basketball and hockey teams competing for state titles. After months of hard work and resilience, the Big Red are ready for the challenges ahead.
On the ice, MBA takes on Nolensville in the GNASH Predators Cup Playoff Finals. After finishing the regular season second in the league, the Big Red dropped their playoff opener. With their backs against the wall, MBA battled through four straight elimination games - including a pair of overtime victories - to advance out of the Elimination Bracket and earn a chance at redemption. Puck drop is set for 8:15 p.m. on Monday at Ford Ice Center - Bellevue. An if necessary matchup scheduled for Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. at Centennial Sportsplex.
Meanwhile, the hardwood has delivered an impressive late-season surge. MBA turned strong February play into a powerful postseason push, winning four of its final five regular-season games — including victories over each of the region’s top three teams. After qualifying for the state tournament, the Big Red earned a Final Four appearance with back-to-back road wins, defeating MUS 64–63 in overtime and Knoxville Webb, the nation’s No. 11-ranked team. Now making their second straight appearance in the TSSAA Division II-AA semifinals, the Big Red will face Pope Prep at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, Tennessee.
