College counseling is more than a process—it is a journey of discovery. Our College Counseling Office is a dedicated, student-centered team committed to helping each boy find the college path that best fits his interests, strengths, and goals. Our approach is personal, comprehensive, and guided by experienced counselors who walk alongside students and families every step of the way.
"I always appreciated the college counselors' availability. My counselor was always eager to hear my thoughts and help me discern which colleges would be the best fit. One specific moment that stands out is our first college counseling meeting my counselor spent nearly an hour diagramming all of my desired majors on the whiteboard and sorting through which colleges aligned best. I'm so grateful to the entire counseling office for being so awesome!"

A Comprehensive, Four-Year Journey
College counseling at MBA begins early—with an introductory program for freshmen and their families—and continues through a well-planned sequence of grade-level events. These include academic-day workshops, evening programs, and on-campus college visits - all designed to prepare students and families for each phase of the college search.
Program highlights include:
- Freshman and sophomore introduction to course advising college planning
- Junior-year workshops on standardized testing and college research
- Senior-year college application sessions and essay seminars
- Evening programs covering need-based financial aid and merit-based scholarships
- Events with college representatives and alumni
A Personalized Experience
While the program provides a strong foundation, the heart of college counseling at MBA lies in our personalized, one-on-one advising. Beginning in the spring of sophomore year, students work closely with a dedicated counselor who provides tailored support throughout the process.
Our team helps each student:
- Reflect on interests, goals, and potential college fit
- Develop a customized application strategy
- Prepare for interviews and college conversations
- Evaluate admission and aid offers and make final enrollment decisions
- Connect with resources for specialized paths (e.g., athletics, arts, military)

Whether a student is exploring a wide range of schools or has a focused goal in mind, our counselors are here to guide, support, and celebrate each boy every step of the way.

“Our son’s college application journey was shaped by the invaluable support of his college counselor. From the earliest meetings in sophomore year to the final review before submission, the counselor’s dedication, insight, and steady availability reflected a deep commitment to each student’s success. His ability to connect with our son and serve as a consistent, reliable mentor made a lasting impact. We are incredibly grateful for his guidance as our son prepares to begin his next chapter at Yale.”
