Three of MBA’s spring teams in the Junior School have brought home HVAC Championships within the last week. On Monday, the golf team captured the title while Wednesday saw both the Big Red’s baseball and lacrosse teams conquer the competition.

Golf: Seventh-graders Luke Mavar, Austin Snedeker, Luke Anderson, and Jess Judy combined to shoot a team score of 113, four strokes better than Brentwood Academy and Ensworth. Mavar’s 37 led the way individually among the qualifiers - who were well supported by a number of teammates that came to cheer at Ted Rhodes Golf Course.

Baseball: The all eighth-grade group on the Big Red’s top baseball team were determined to write quite the story on Wednesday. Needing three runs in the last half inning to keep the season alive after a rain-interrupted game the day before, MBA did just that. Then, they kept the momentum going in a 4-3 win over Grace Christian as Turner Rutledge, Tucker Paxton, Griffin Burns, and Michael Holscher delivered again in the afternoon.

Lacrosse: Like baseball, lacrosse felt the impact of weather on Wednesday, entering the day not knowing who its championship game opponent would be. The Big Red dominated CPA 13-0 on Tuesday before the storm to earn their place in the finals - eventually drawing Ensworth for a chance at redemption from a regular season loss. MBA jumped on the Tigers early and never looked back, leading 7-2 at the half and using a four-goal run to secure the 11-5 victory in a total team effort.

With the athletics calendar now complete for all HVAC seasons, MBA wraps the school year with eight total championships across the league’s twelve sports. Earlier in 2026 it was the swimming & diving team that won, joining tennis, cross country, soccer and wrestling from the first semester.
