Two HVAC Championship trophies are headed back to The Hill! Last Friday afternoon, MBA's Junior School teams won both the cross country and tennis titles.

At the USN River Campus, Cullen Weaver led the way for the Big Red with a third-place finish, passing a pair of runners in the final stretch. Quinn Sberna and Ayman Abuali both shaved significant time off their PRs to finish in the top 10, and Joe Newman joined them there. In all, nine MBA runners (Weaver, Sberna, Abuali, Newman, Hampton Campbell, William Oliver, Scott Finnie, Connor Neff and Jameson Norton) earned top-20 finishes. Every one of them mattered, as the championship came down to a tiebreaker.

Meanwhile, at Ensworth High School, the tennis team took care of business too, sweeping Brentwood Academy and Ensworth in the Big Red's strongest overall performance of the season. Bruce Li dominated on his way to a second straight No. 1 singles title, a run that included a golden set — winning 32 straight points in his first match. Alex Angus, who won a title on the top doubles team last year, won convincingly at No. 2 singles, and seventh-grader Rutland Moore claimed the No. 3 singles title. The doubles teams of Finnegan McCarron/Thomas Ward and Indio Bradley/Larson McGrane also won their draws as MBA went 10-0 in the tournament to capture its sixth straight HVAC tennis championship.

Congratulations to everyone who helped make these championships possible — coaches, players, and parents alike!
