2026 Academic Camps
Our co-ed academic camps give students the chance to sharpen skills, build confidence, and prepare for the year ahead in a supportive and engaging environment. From writing and study strategies to math, science, debate, and SAT prep, these courses help boys and girls strengthen their foundations while exploring new challenges.
Registration, along with full details on dates and camp pricing, will be released in mid-January.
Cancellation Policy:
A $30 non-refundable registration fee is included in the price of all courses. A full refund (minus the non-refundable fee) is offered for cancellations prior to May 1. No refunds are given for cancellations thereafter.
| Adventures in Composition (Rising Grade 7) |

This week-long course introduces specific forms of composition taught in MBA’s seventh grade and emphasizes writing as a process. General Expectations:

| Adventures in Literature (Rising Grade 7) |
Introduces the study of literature prior to seventh grade at MBA. Students practice note-taking, answering study and discussion questions, and writing/revising informal essays. The final two days include scene performances and written responses on plot, character, and conflict. General Expectations:

| Algebra I Headstart (Rising Grades 8-9) |
Prepares students for Algebra I by reviewing Pre-Algebra concepts and introducing Algebra I materials. |
| Basic & Intermediate Debate (Rising Grades 5-12) |
Designed for beginners, MBA’s Big Red Summer Debate Camp builds skills in argument, research, and public speaking. Led by MBA’s nationally recognized coaches, students explore current issues, practice competitive debate, and learn strategies valued by college admissions. |
| Computer Skills (Rising 7th Graders *MBA ONLY) |
Focuses on keyboarding, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills. Students also discuss online responsibility, reputation, and etiquette. Important:

| Foundations of Writing (Rising Grades 6-8) |
Strengthens handwriting, spelling, and mechanics through instruction, drills, and exercises. |
| Geometry Headstart (Rising Grades 9-10) |
Prepares students for Geometry by reviewing Algebra I and introducing new concepts. |
| High School Grammar Preview – Clauses & Verbals (Rising Grades 9-12) |
Introduces adjective, adverb, and noun clauses as well as verbals (gerunds, participles, and infinitives). |
| High School Study Skills – Surviving the Academic Wilderness (Rising Grades 9-12) |
Develops strategies for success in high-expectation academic settings: self-assessment, responsibility, and practical study techniques. |
| IPS Introduction (Rising 7th Graders *MBA ONLY) |
Introduces fundamental concepts of physical science, basic lab techniques, and math skills needed for MBA’s 7th grade IPS course. |
| Jumpstart for Pre-Algebra (Rising 7th Graders) |
Introduces key Pre-Algebra concepts: integers, ratios/proportions, and solving equations. |
| Junior School Grammar Preview – The Sentence & Parts of Speech (Rising Grades 6-8) |
Covers sentence structure, parts of speech, and common errors. |
| Junior School Study Skills – Preparing for the Academic Wilderness (Rising Grades 6-8) |
Focuses on note-taking, test-taking, reading, writing, memorization, and organization. |
| Latin I Introduction (Rising Grades 8-9) |
Introduces Latin syntax, grammar, and vocabulary while reinforcing English skills through Latin roots. |
| Latin II Preparation (Rising Grades 9-12) |
Reviews Latin I vocabulary, syntax, and grammar with emphasis on second-semester content. |
| Preparing for the SAT – Math (Rising Grades 9-12) |
Prepares students for PSAT/SAT Math: scoring, problem solving, data analysis, and timed practice tests. |
| Preparing for the SAT – Verbal (Rising Grades 9-12) |
Covers SAT/PSAT Verbal & Writing sections: reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, strategies, and timed practice tests. |
| Research for 8th Grade (Rising 8th Graders *MBA ONLY) |
Balances research skills with public speaking. Students practice evaluating sources, organizing information, and citing properly. Important:
