On Monday, May 11, MBA recognized five retirees: Dr. Gabe Carro, Mr. Greg Ferrell, Mrs. Kit Lechlieter, Mr. Barry McAlister, and Mrs. Caroline Scholer. Together, the 2026 retirees represent a combined 95 years of service to the school, with each spending more than a decade on The Hill and impacting the lives of hundreds of boys. We congratulate each of them and wish them the very best in this next stage of life!

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Carro served as Junior School head golf coach for seven years and assistant varsity golf coach for six years. He also coached intramurals, Science Olympiad, and Junior School Robotics. A dedicated member of the community, he has been a longtime faculty sponsor of the junior class and the Garden Club. He has also enjoyed chaperoning numerous student trips, including travel to England, France, Ireland, Greece, Italy, and Spain.

She later contributed to the Alumni and Development team and spent time working in the library alongside Jules LeFort-Cleary. While she did not serve in a teaching or coaching role, Mrs. Lechleiter became a beloved presence across campus. Known for her kindness, warmth, and genuine care for students, she brought joy to daily interactions and formed lasting relationships with generations of MBA boys.

Mr. Barry McAlister
Mr. Barry McAlister joined Montgomery Bell Academy in 2009, where he led video production efforts and played a key role in producing The Hill magazine. Throughout his tenure, he taught interview and editing skills and helped many aspiring filmmakers develop their craft.
In addition to his creative work, Mr. McAlister supported the school’s Improv Club and contributed to leadership training initiatives. His storytelling and mentorship left a lasting impact on students and the broader MBA community. After 17 years, he is retiring to pursue freelance video production, leadership training, and renewed interests in acting and voiceover work.
