MBA’s 7th grade football team fell to 1-5 when it lost to Holy Rosary 20-16 on Tuesday (9/26). MBA lead throughout the game until the final two minutes when Holy Rosary scored a late touchdown to take the lead. MBA’s last-minute trick play nearly succeeded when a pass from tailback Brian Oslin to wide-open quarterback John Morphis fell just out of the receiver’s reach forcing MBA to turn the ball over to Holy Rosary on downs.
MBA’s offense executed the game plan very well. Highlights included a 50-yard touchdown pass from John Morphis to Alex Kohls with John Morphis passing to Ross Martin for the two-point conversion, and a 20-yard touchdown run by Brian Olsin with John Morphis passing to Ross Martin again for the two-point conversion.
MBA’s defense played with great passion as exemplified by Nathaniel Greene’s tenacious pass rushing and pressure on the Holy Rosary backfield. Highlights included two sacks by Brian Oslin, one sack by John Morphis, and an interception by Ryland Close.
The 7th grade coaching staff is very proud of the boys’ performance against a tough 7th and 8th grade Holy Rosary team. MBA plans to bounce back with a victory when the team travels to BGA on Thursday (9/28) for a 4:30pm kickoff.
