John Burch qualifies for state open championship
Senior John Burch qualified for the Tennessee State Open by shooting a 73 at a qualifying round at Harpeth Hills this July. John has been on the varsity golf team since his sophomore year and will be a vital player in the forthcoming season. Over 150 competitors will tee it up at Belle Meade Country Club August 14th-17th for the state open including alumnus Carter Henderson (01). Welcome boys to the MBA golf team. It is a source of pride and honor for you that you have been selected to represent your school. Not every boy is presented with that privilege and I want you to be proud of your accomplishment and also be aware of the responsibility of your success. It is also an honor and a privilege for me to have the opportunity to spend time with you. Please find below a list of guidelines and expectations that will help us be a great team and fine representatives for Montgomery Bell Academy.
Expectations & Guidelines
- All rules in the MBA handbook are in effect
- Each member of the team is provided with an MBA golf shirt, hat and bag. The shirt should be tucked in, the hat worn with the peak to the front, and the bag used for every match.
- Only khaki pants or shorts may be worn. (Basically, we follow the dress code of most golf clubs)
- Each boy should conduct himself as a gentleman, knowing that his behavior is a reflection on his character, his family and his school.
- An MBA golf shirt must be worn at practice.
- Attendance at practice is mandatory in season and all service commitments and other business (except medical attention) should be organized around golf commitments.
- It is the responsibility of the boys to make up missed academic work. Participation on the golf team should not be used as an excuse for academic decline.
- An MBA bus will be used as transport to all matches and tournaments.
