MBA Completes the Regular Season with a Victory over rival Ensworth

On senior night at Tommy Owen stadium, MBA completed a 9-1 regular season with a come from behind 23-21 victory over their rival Ensworth. MBA took the first drive 76 yards on 10 plays to open the game with a 20 yard field goal by freshman kicker Alex Massad. The Ensworth rushing attack fired on all cylinders early as they were able to score touchdowns on their first two offensive drives to take an early 14-3 lead. The Big Red offense countered with two scoring drives of their own highlighted by a scrambling quarterback Glenn Coleman finding an open receiver Chapman Malone on a 16 yard touchdown that resulted in a 17-14 lead for MBA. Ensworth was able to answer right before the half with a long touchdown run of their own to take a 21-17 lead into halftime.
Both defenses would stiffen in the second half. The Big Red defense led by linebackers Karlton Bruton and Connor Mulloy were able to hold the Tigers to just 37 yards for the remainder of the game. Junior tailback Ty Chandler, who rushed for 221 yards on the night was able to find the endzone in the 4th quarter on a 14 yard scamper to cap the Big Red victory.
MBA finished the regular season with a 9-1 record to claim the 2nd seed in the TSSAA playoffs. The team will have a bye week to prepare for the winner of the Pope John Paul II and McCallie game this Friday.
