MBA Wins Home Opener in Overtime

The MBA 7th grade basketball team earned a hard fought 42-39 overtime victory over Sunset Middle School to improve their record to 4-1 on the season. Trailing 8-0 after the first few minutes of the game, MBA rallied back behind a strong defensive effort to take the lead at halftime 17-12. The game went back and forth until the Big Red found themselves behind by two with six seconds to go. Will Campbell, who finished with a team high 14 points, put the game into overtime as he beat the buzzer with a 17 footer. In overtime, the Big Red led by John Bachmann created multiple turnovers and was able to get some easy buckets. Furman Haynes iced the game with two hugh free throws with less than one second to play. Tom Kaiser, Andrew Einstmann, and Brady McDonald played well inside as they combined for 20 points and 20 rebounds. MBA will play at BGA at 4 p.m. on Friday.
