Big Red Wins Region Opener in OT

Team 117 opened up region play with a come from behind overtime road vicoty over McCallie that pushed their overall record to 5-0. 

McCallie took the first drive of the game 80 yards, and was capitalized by a short Blue Tornado touchdown run and an early 7-0 lead. MBA's offense answered three plays later with a 31 yard touchdown run by junior tailback Ty Chandler. The teams traded fumbles and punts until Chandler added his second touchdown of the night to push MBA's lead to 14-7.  McCallie responded with two touchdown drives of their own to take a 19-14 lead into halftime.

Both defenses stiffened in the third quarter as the teams traded punts in a scoreless quarter saving the fireworks for the fourth quarter. Senior quarterback Glenn Coleman found senior receiver Chapman Malone in the back of the endzone for a 7 yard touchdown strike and a 20-19 Big Red lead. McCallie answered with a 5 minute drive of their own and added a 2 pt conversion to take a 7 point lead with 5 minutes to play. From there, MBA's senior offensive line and Chandler, who had 39 carries foor 279 yards, took the game over. Chandler was able to find the end zone for the third time with less than 20 seconds left in the game, and kicker Dean Cheevers converted the extra point to send the game into overtime. 

McCallie possessed the ball first in overtime, but senior safety Charles West intercepted the Blue Tornado on third down. The MBA offense needed just two plays for Chandler to find the endzone and secure the victory for MBA. 

MBA will be back in action at home next week against Father Ryan at Tommy Owen Stadium.
