North Korean Defector Ji Seong-ho to Conduct Fireside Chat at MBA

North Korean Defector Ji Seong-ho gained international prominence when he was recognized as an inspiration for freedom at America’s 2018 State of the Union Address — just a few weeks after sharing his story with one of our students, MBA junior William Hagerty, in Seoul. During that earlier meeting, Mr. Seong-ho told William that his greatest desire was to travel to the United States and meet the U.S. President. A few weeks later, the world heard the inspirational story of Ji’s travails under the North Korean regime and his daring escape.

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Ji Seong-ho has traveled back to America and will be in Nashville this week, on Wednesday, December 16, to participate in a virtual fireside chat — taking questions from William and MBA faculty member Josh Clark. Mr. Seong-ho will describe his life in North Korea, his quest for freedom, and his escape covering more than 6,000 miles on crutches through China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand. We will also hear from him about his goals for service as a newly-elected member of the South Korean National Assembly.

Mr. Seong-ho will share his story of inspiration and perseverance with the MBA community during this event, which will be streamed on Wednesday, December 16, at 5:30 p.m. The program will remain available for viewing after the event as well. We hope that the entire MBA community will be able to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear from Mr. Seong-ho.
