The MBA varsity golf team began its season on Monday, August 14th at the Preview tournament in Chattanooga at the prestigious Honors Course. The Preview tournament crosses traditional divisional lines and invites strong teams from the mid-state, Memphis, Knoxville and the Chattanooga regions. Our second place finish there at this two-day tournament to Baylor and ahead of Evangelical Christian School and Webb-Knoxville was an important and positive step forward, proving to ourselves that we can hang with the best in Tennessee. Our five-man team of Rob Campbell, Dylan Burroughs, John Burch, Will Earthman and Charlie Byrge scored a two-day total of 606, 14 shots behind Baylor. Rob Campbell (145) and Dylan Burroughs (146) finished 4th and 6th respectively in the individual competition. The team is looking forward to the rest of the season where our stronger schedule (we play Baylor, McCallie, Webb and Clarksville in dual matches), an expanded squad that includes several promising younger players such as Tyler Paslick, Rob Broadhurst and Jimmy Anderson, and the availability of a fantastic practice facility at the Golf Club of Tennessee should benefit the program's development enormously.
