For the third year in a row, MBA’s 7th grade football team beat BA. With a 24-16 victory, the Big Red is now 3-5 on the season, and will seek its third consecutive win when it plays David Lipscomb on Tuesday (10/10) in the season ending Big Red Bowl.
MBA’s offense was balanced and effective. The debut of “Beef Right” with Dobbs Richards at fullback combined with the solid blocking of the offensive line of Charlie Steere, Edward Wilson, Henry Beveridge, Alex Hagar, and Mason Luplow provided a ground game that hammered BA’s defensive front. Then, quarterback John Morphis’ precision passing diced BA’s defensive backfield. Highlights included two touchdown runs and a 2-point conversion run by Brian Oslin; a touchdown pass from John Morphis to Alex Kohls; and a 2-point conversion pass from John Morphis to Mattison Hamilton.
MBA’s defense was played with great passion and really shut down BA’s offense. (BA’s second touchdown came in the final minutes the game with MBA’s starters on the bench.) Highlights included a safety by John Morphis.
MBA’s final game is Tuesday (10/10) against David Lipscomb in the Big Red Bowl. Kickoff is a 4:00pm.
