MBA Wins Season Opener Against Ensworth

In a closely contested matchplay event, under a dog day sun,  MBA defeated Ensworth High School at Harpeth Hills Golf Course.  John Burch, Rob Broadhurst and Daniel Leader won their matches emphatically for the Big Red while sophomore Alex Snow battled all day against his opponent, narrowly missing out on the win on the 18th hole.  Sophomore Overton Thompson bravely overcame a nightmarish beginning in his first varsity match, hauling himself back from 5 down to get within two with four to play only for his opponent to  close him out on the 16th hole. With both teams tied at 3-3 at the end of 18 holes, John Burch defeated Ensworth's Grant Caudill in the first sudden-death playoff hole.  thursday will see the Big Red team travel to Lakewood Country Club in Tullahoma for the Stan McNabb tournament, an 18-hole event that begins at 9.00am.
