8th Grade Caps off Strong Season With Big Red Bowl Victory

Coach McMurray

The MBA 8th Grade Football Team finished off a successful season with a 14-6 win over a talented CPA squad in the Big Red Bowl Tuesday evening.  The first half saw neither team establish itself offensively in a back and forth defensive struggle.  The Big Red asserted itself early in the third quarter by taking advantage of a CPA fumble.  The bruising offensive line and the hard running of tailback John Bachmann set up a short touchdown run by Jetarii Donald.  The Microbes scored a later touchdown on an accurate slant pass from quarterback Dylan Hall to receiver Will Campbell who outran the CPA secondary.  Quarterback Cade Hooper and receivers Wilson Johnson and Clint Smith also played well.  A solid defensive effort sealed the victory as an explosive CPA offensive was shutdown.  Two key plays on defense came from CPA interceptions by Tom Kaiser and Will Campbell.  Otherwise the defense was led by Franklin Garstin, Jack Benton, and Todd Baker.  An overall 4-4 record does not describe the talent and hard work of this team all season.  Tough competition and some extremely close games never kept this team down.  The coaching staff is proud of their effort and determination, and the future of Big Red football is bright.
