8th Grade Football Opens with a Win Over Dickson

This Saturday, after rescheduling for storms, the 8th Grade Football Team opened the year strongly with a 21-0 victory over Dickson Middle. The game was dominated by the smothering Big Red defense which did not allow a first down all game. The defensive effort was led by Jashon Robertson, Carson Shaw, Jalen Hurd, DJ Clark, Gaines Garrett, and Garrett Miler. Then the points came quickly in the first quarter after Jalen Hurd and the offensive line drove the ball the length of the field setting up a touchdown pass from Jordan Roundtree to DJ Clark. The second score came on a bullet pass from Tucker Voges to Duncan Smith in the second quarter. Travonte Easley opened the second half with a near score on the kickoff return and would later reach the endzone on a pass from Voges. The team will march on this Thursday at Mt. Juliet Middle School at 6:00 pm.
