MBA 8th Grade with Rousing Victory over Whitthorne
The MBA 8th Grade Football Team defeated a big and hungry Whitthorne Middle School team 20-8 Wednesday evening in front of a large home crowd. The Big Red offense had its way in the first half with two long touchdown runs from Mike Lacey. TJ Jefferson helped pave the way with crushing lead blocks. CJ Sanders caught a long touchdown pass from Braxton Blackwell to give the Big Red its final score in the 2nd half. The defense clamped down the Tigers’ attack, as Derrick Tusie and Jefferson patrolled the field at linebacker, and the secondary led by Sanders and Derrick Tucker bottled up Whitthorne’s speed. On both sides of the ball the Big Red controlled the line of scrimmage with the lines’ best game of the year, led by James Throckmorton and an unblockable Ben Kelly. Kicker Louis Brown added two extra points to the board. The 8th Grade has a big week ahead of them, with a B Team scrimmage against Harding Academy Tuesday at 42nd Ave., and the season’s final home game next Thursday evening against West Wilson Middle.
