MBA Claims Tourney Crown

MBA's basketball team defeated Clarksville Northeast Wednesday night to win the Above the Rim Tournament at Hickman County High school.  The Big Red held Northeast star Alex Poythrees to 16 points on the defensive end and once again had a balanced attack on the offensive end.  After leading 16-12 at the end of the first, a big second quarter saw MBA extend its lead to 30-17 at the half.  The Big Red maintained that lead heading into the final quarter.  Some Northeast 3's and missed MBA free throws allowed the game to get closer, but MBA closed out the game to claim the championship.   Chase Owen led in scoring with 15, followed by Whit Thornton and Austin Blackwell with 11 each, and Aaron Simonis with 10.  Jojo Guerre and Austin Blackwell were both named All-Tournament and Chase Owen was named tournament MVP.  Congratulations guys!

The team will be back in action next Tuesday in its league opener when they host Father Ryan at 7:30.  Come support your team.
