Science Olympiad Places 2nd and 3rd in Regional Competition
The MBA Science Olympiad Division B and Division C teams competed at the TSU regional tournament this weekend, finishing 2nd and 3rd in the team scoring. Both teams qualified for the state tournament at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in April.
The Division C team medaled in 9 events with seniors Rueben Dockery, J.B. Lund, and Tony Ding leading the medal count. They won first place in four events: Chemistry Lab, Electric Vehicle, It’s About Time, and Dynamic Planet.
The Division B team won 8 of the 23 events and medaled in 13 total. They were led by 8th graders Zach Brown and John Raulston Graham who medaled in all of their events.
In addition, 8 Seniors took part in the National Chemistry Olympiad regional competition on Friday. For their outstanding achievement in the competition, Yavin Alwis and Tony Ding were selected as 2 of the region's 8 National Qualifiers. Tony received an additional medal for having the highest exam score in the competition.
