Summer break has been anything but a break for the hundreds of MBA students who have spent time away from school exploring the world. Through Wilson Grants, Warner Exchanges, and other opportunities, the boys of Big Red have embarked on trips they’ll remember for a lifetime.
Taiwan
Three of our Chinese-language students traveled to Taiwan through the Wilson Grants Program. They practiced their language skills, shadowed local students at a school in Hsinchu, and immersed themselves in Taiwanese culture—exploring the Shilin Night Market, walking through the Sacred Forest with 1,000-year-old trees, picking oolong tea leaves at the Alishan Tea Plantation, visiting a Taoist temple, and more.
Guatemala
Junior School students served in Guatemala, building eco-stoves at a local school and teaching dental hygiene to children in Pre-K through 6th grade. Beyond the service work, they explored Guatemalan culture—spinning thread and dyeing it with plants in Antigua, boating across the stunning Lake Atitlán, and making pottery in the village of Apolonia.
Italy
Latin scholars explored ancient streets and historical landmarks across Italy, visiting Pompeii and other Roman ruins through the Wilson Grants Program. A highlight included a special visit to Capri—plus, of course, plenty of gelato.
Ghana
Upper School students took part in a meaningful service trip to Ghana, where they engaged deeply with local culture and contributed to the community. Students from both the Guatemala and Ghana trips are sharing their experiences on the Service Club blog.
Singapore
At the GALESS TiltShift Conference in Singapore, MBA students enjoyed incredible food (including from the famed Maxwell Hawker Centre), participated in cultural exchanges, and earned awards for STEM Solution and Outstanding Presentation.
New England
Twelve students, led by Dr. Fuller and Ms. Swieca-Brockman, traveled to Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia on the Wilson Cultural History Trip. From historic landmarks and museums to Broadway shows and shared meals, the trip deepened their understanding of art, culture, and community.
Colombia
Students spent three weeks on exchange at Claustro Moderno in Bogotá, exploring Colombian culture through visits to the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral, Plaza Bolívar, and other cultural sites.
Paris
Four students received Wilson Travel Grants for a month in France. After an exchange in Bordeaux, they capped off the trip with a jam-packed week in Paris—visiting Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Arc de Triomphe, La Madeleine, Bastille Market, the Eiffel Tower, and the royal halls of Versailles.
Out West
From camping in Colter Bay at Grand Teton National Park to hiking near the stunning Little Grand Canyon, students on this adventure embraced the great outdoors in the American West.
