MBA Finishes Fourth at Carter Invitational

Mike Davidson
MBA had gorgeous weather for two days as it hosted the 42nd Annual Carter Invitational. The Big Red varsity team had a fantastic start to the tournament with all six singles players and the first and third doubles teams winning their first round matches. Frist Allen and George Harwell had great semifinal victories, but MBA was unable to win enough singles and doubles matches on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning to stay in the chase for first. In the end, the final scores were 1) Baylor (20 points), 2) MUS (16 points), 3) McCallie (12.5 points), 4) MBA (12 points), 5) Ensworth (4.5 points), 6) USN (4 points), 7) Siegel (3.5 points) and 8) Knox Webb (3 points). MBA only gets Sunday off before hosting Father Ryan at home at 4 PM on Monday and will face McCallie at home on Thursday in what is guaranteed to be a close and important match. McCallie beat MBA 5-4 at the DecoTurf Tournament in March, lost to MBA at the Rotary, and then beat MBA by .5 points at the Carter. It would be great to get two league victories this week before heading into the long weekend.
