MBA Beats McCallie

Mike Davidson
MBA got a big win at home on Tuesday against McCallie. MBA's #1 doubles team of George Harwell and Baylor Sai looked very strong as they cruised to an 8-2 victory. The #2 doubles team of John Morphett and Matthew Bulow had trouble finding a rhythm early and found themselves in a hole down 7-1. MBA's #3 doubles team of Frist Allen and Hugh Graham played well but had trouble breaking McCallie early and as a result the team was down 4-3 on serve when MBA's #1 doubles team won its match. The #3 doubles team for MBA made some adjustments and the #2 doubles team started to make some shots and battle back. In the end, MBA found a way to win all three doubles matches to win the doubles point. When singles began, it was tough to tell if three MBA players would be able to get the wins necessary to clinch the match. McCallie won the first set on four of the six courts. MBA refused to quit. MBA won the second set on every single court. With those second set victories, George Harwell and John Morphett got two wins for MBA (6-2, 6-2 for George and 6-4, 6-4 for John). The other four matches would be decided by a third set superbreaker. Baylor Sai and Sims Lance won their third set superbreakers, both by a score of 10-7, to help MBA win the match 5-2. With the win, MBA secured the #2 seed in the East/Middle Region behind Baylor and will have a home quarterfinal match in a couple weeks. If rain permits, the final regular season match of the year will be played at home on Wednesday against USN.
