7th Grade Football Comes Up Short Against Coopertown

The 7th Grade football team lost 12 - 14 in a hard fought game against Coopertown Middle School's 7th & 8th Grade team.

Although MBA jumped out to a 6 - 0 lead after a touchdown pass from Cade Hooper to Andrew Einstman, Coopertown's large offensive line began to take control of the game enabling them to pound the ball down the field to tie the game 6 - 6 before the half time buzzer.

During the second half, Coopertown scored another touchdown and a two-point conversion to take a 14 - 6 lead. Although time was running out, MBA fought back and actually had a chance to tie the game after a Cade Hooper touchdown pass to Wilson Johnson. However, the two-point conversion was unsuccessful and Coopertown was able to run out the clock to seal the win.

The coaching staff is very proud of the team. Although Coopertown has the edge in size, MBA showed great heart and never gave up. On the contrary, MBA was tenacious throughout the game as demonstrated by Wilson Johnson and Robby Mills' bone-crushing blocks on Coopertown defenders and by Wilson Johnson's hit on a Coopertown ball-carrier that forced the fumble recovered by Kamani Hodges.

The coaching staff is excited about the 7th Grade football team and its great passion for winning. We expect a lot of success this season as the team continues to improve. Please come out and support the 7th Grade football team at its next game at Brentwood M.S. on Tuesday (9/4) @ 4:30pm.
