Never Give Up

The 8th grade basketball team lost Friday( TNT Tourney) to David Lipscomb by the score of 43-30. We also lost floor leader Alex Kohls to an ankle injury and he will be out for the remainder of the tournament games. The Big Red responded to the misfortune by coming out on Sat. and defeating Ensworth for the third time this season. It was a great win to begin HVAC tournament play as Conry Miler led the way with 15 pts. and Warren Lipscomb dazzled the crowd by going 3 for 3 behind the three point arc, adding 9pts.

The team pulled off a monumental upset on Monday by toppling the undefeated HVAC regular season champion, Brentwood Academy. The final score recorded in the books was 36-33 which advances us to the HVAC tournament championship held here on Wednesday night at 7:30. MBA will face the winner of DCA and BGA. The win was a huge turnaround after losing to BA earlier this season by a wide margin of 63-49. Conry Miler scored 19 points and hitting 8 of 10 from the free throw line. Jack Beckner had 7 points and Jaime Katseff filled in for the injured Alex Kohls hitting a big 3 and doing a great job running the point guard position without much game experience this season. Warren Lipscomb also hit a big 3 and scored 5 points. Jaime Bradshaw and Conry Miler held BA’s center (who had scored 24 points on us in January), to 7 just points in the 1st half and 0 in the second. The win is a " tribute to a group of guys who have worked very hard and have been very coachable and unselfish this entire season"according to head coach Gary Waller. Please plan to attend the game Wed. and wear your crimson, Go Big Red!!
