Big Red Rolls Over Overbrook

The Big Red 7th grade football team hosted a tough Overbrook / St. Matthew team that proved to be a great test on a hot Thursday afternoon.  A long drive in the 1st quarter ended with a 25 yard touchdown run by Colton Black to give MBA an early lead.  The two teams exchanged possessions several times, and a pass attempt by Overbrook to try and tie things up before the 2nd quarter ended was batted down by D.J. Clark.  MBA lead 6 - 0 at the half.  In the second half, Colton Black scored once again, taking the handoff from Michael Buttarazzi and scoring on 5 yard run.  Jonah Rappuhn scored on the two point conversion to give MBA a 14 - 0 lead.  Overbrook battled back, scoring on a long pass play and adding two to make the score 14 - 8.  Gaines Garrett kept Overbrook back with several booming punts, and interceptions by Samuel Bamigboye, Vinny Gaglione, and Michael Buttarazzi kept the MBA defense off the field for most of the 2nd half.  The Big Red will take on Brentwood Middle School at home on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 4:30 p.m.
