Big Red Ground The Eagles

The MBA 7th grade football team traveled to Brentwood to face a combined 7th & 8th grade BA team in the most anticipated game of the season.  After receiving the opening kickoff, Tucker Voges drove the offense down the field, scoring on a 4 yard run by Jalen Hurd.  BA returned the kickoff to tie the game 8 - 8.  On the first series of the second half, Colton Black intercepted a BA pass and returned it 15 yards, giving the Big Red great field position.  Neither MBA nor BA could put together a scoring drive until the final minute of the game, when MBA put together it's best drive of the season.  With :31 remaining in the game, DJ Clark ran a sweep to the left and was tackled inbounds at the 26 yard line.  MBA used it's second timeout to stop the clock at :18, and set up the next play.  The BA defense bit on a middle screen to Jay Robertson, who was tackled inbounds at the 9 yard line.  MBA took it's final timeout to stop the clock at :07.  On the final play of the game, Tucker Voges took the snap and rolled out to the right and fired a pass to Vinny Gaglione, who outjumped his defender and came down with the ball in the corner of the endzone to give the Big Red a 14 - 8 victory with no time remaining on the clock.  The team plays CPA in the Big Red Bowl on Tuesday.
