With only five weeks of rowing under their belts, the MBA Crew Team officially landed on the rowing map on Saturday. The Chattanooga Head Race, in its 17th year, had 295 boat entries with 29 teams competing from eight states. The regatta took place on the Tennessee River. The 5000 meter course finished at Ross Landing in downtown Chattanooga.
The first boat in the history of MBA Rowing to compete was an eight-man with Mark Lowe (’13) as coxswain, Oliver Oldacre (’10) as stroke, Joseph Lowe (’10) in 7 seat, Gray Curtis (’12) in 6 seat, Chris Habermann (’13) in 5 seat, Rob Edwards (’12) in 4 seat, Collin Brannon (’11) in 3 seat, Thomas Moore (’10) in 2 seat and John Elam (’12) as bow seat. The boat finished with a time of 20:03.2.
The second boat to compete was a four-man with Rob Edwards (’12) as coxswain, Oliver Oldacre (’10) as stroke, Joseph Lowe (’10) in 3 seat, Aaron Ardisson (’12) in 2 seat and Collin Brannon (’11) in bow seat. The boat finished fifth with a time of 21:18.7.
