MBA ends Ensworth's season
MBA defeated Ensworth 27-24 in the quarterfinals of the TSSAA playoffs. After being down 17-0 early in the second quarter and 24-10 MBA shut the Tigers out in the second half. The Big Red defense came up with two big 4th down stops holding Ensworth's highly touted running back to only 34 yards in the second half. After getting the ball on their own 5 yard line with 9 minutes left the Big Red pounded the ball down the field setting up a 43 yard FG with 41 seconds left. Andrew Fletcher drilled the eventual game winner with room to spare. William Tanner intercepted a pass on the last play of the game to preserve the win.
Fitz Lassing finished the game with 30 carries for 92 yards. Lassing also added a TD pass to William Tanner. QB Aaron Simonis was 8 for 17 passing and a TD to Holden Mobley. Fletcher had 2 FG (47 and 43 yards). Brad Bars added 3 catches for 20 yards. On defense Alexander Hornbuckle recovered a fumbled in the 3rd quarter to help change the momentum.
