In another memorable game MBA defeated Brentwood Academy in double overtime to advance to the State Championship game on Thursday December 2 in Cookeville. The Big Red started the scoring off early after recovering a fumbled punt by the Eagles. Fitz Lassing ran it in a few plays later to give MBA a 7-0 lead. Each team traded scores in the first half as the first 24 minutes ended in a 14-14 tie. The Eagles took the opening drive of the second half and scored with ease. MBA did not quit. Again trading scores throughout the half MBA put themselves in position to win the game with a 40 yard FG with 6 seconds left. The kick was no good sending the contest in to overtime. Both teams scored easily in both overtimes but the Eagles missed their PAT try after their TD in the 2nd OT. Fits Lassing rushed for close to 100 yards and threw 2 TD passes. Holden Mobley caught two TD's and William Tanner had another. Tyler Franks also rushed for close to 100 yards. Morgan Cram, Brad Bars, Alexander Hornbuckle, Jeff Nutkis and Bennett Cain all played well on defense. Sophomore QB Aaron Simonis continues to be outstanding as he leads the team effectively and efficiently. MUS is next for the Big Red in Cookeville on December 3rd in the State Championship game.
