The Cardinal/ Silver scrimmage ended in a 12-12 deadlock. Both teams delivered plenty of big hits and excitement. The teams went in at halftime tied at 6-6. Both touchdowns came minutes before intermission. Jack Crawford scored on a 10 yard toss sweep for the Silver team. His speed was apparent while racing to the pylon. He was able to score behind the blocking of linemen David Blaufuss, Zach Smith and Jackson Sullivan. The 2pt. extra point attempt failed. That score was followed by the ensuing kickoff which was returned for a score by Alex McClellan. He weaved in an out of defenders and provided and electrifying return. The Silver defense snuffed out the 2pt. conversion try. The second half saw both defenses rise to the occasion. Jackson McFadden, Trace Fontana, Ben Jablonski and Ben Evans led the Silver Defense. Alex McClellan scored for the Cardinal unit on a 40yd. sweep, breaking several tackles along the way. He followed the blocking of Ian Beyer and Tobias Houghton. Jackson Abbey simply powered his way in for the Silver with a couple of minutes left . The Cardinal defense led by Fenner Pollock and Clay Garstin denied the 2pt. attempt. Anderson Flack and Miller Freeman also made big plays from their safety positions during the game. It was a fun day enjoyed by parents, players, and coaches. The Big Red resumes pratice today, and takes on the Brentwood Blaze next week.
