Team 116 of MBA football opened their season with a 26-7 road victory of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis. MBA capped its' opening offensive drive of the season with a 38 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Cole Euverard to wide receiver Austin Rolfe to take a 6-0 lead. CBHS answered with their own touchdown drive to take a 7-6 lead that they maintained until halftime.
MBA proved to be a better team in the second half. Ignited by a punt block by senior Owen Powell, the Big Red capitalized with a short touchdown run by sophomore tailback Ty Chandler. As the defense pitched a shut out in the second half, the offense was able to add another score by senior tailback Derrick Tusie. The Big Red defense slammed the door on CBHS with an 80 yard fumble scoop and score by Owen Powell.
The Big Red will return to Tommy Owen Stadium on Friday to take on Hamilton High School from Memphis.
