Crew Team Wraps Fall Season

The Big Red Crew competed in the Head of the South Regatta on Saturday, November 8th in Augusta, GA.  The regatta was the last of the fall season and the team will head indoors for winter training before hitting the water again in the spring.

The team kicked off the day with two boats racing in the Lightweight Varsity 4+.  One entire boat of freshman and a mixed boat of sophomores.  The freshman placed 5th with a time of 19:23.1 and the mixed boat placed second with a time of 19:31.7.

Next, to race for the Big Red was the Varsity 4+ made of entirely juniors.  They placed 7th of 15 boats, breaking nineteen minutes with a time of 18:56.8.

For the first time this season the team raced a Novice 4 that included, 3 freshmen, 1 sophomore and an 8th grade coxswain and placed 7th of 15 boats with a time of 20:17.0.

The Varsity eights took to the water next, with the Varsity 8 placing 5th with a season best time of 17:05.9 and the 2nd Varsity 8 placing 9th with a time of 17:49.4 of 14 boats.

The Novice Eight took to the water in the final event of the day and placed 5th with a time of 19:47.8

The team will celebrate the sesaon with a banquet on Wednesday, November 12th.
