MBA advanced to the semifinals of the Division II-AA playoffs with a decisive 43-14 victory over the visiting Blue Tornado of McCallie on a frigid night on the Hill. MBA jumped out to a 13-0 lead over McCallie behind an opportunistic defense and the strong running of sophomore tailback Ty Chandler who would finish the night with 182 yards rushing on 15 carries and 5 touchdowns. The Blue Tornado rallied behind the running of Mr. Football candidate Alex Trotter and took a brief lead of 14-13. MBA's offense, which did not punt all night, responded with a critical drive that ended with junior tight end Parker Bryan hauling in a pass from MBA's Mr. Football candidate Cole Euverard. This allowed the Big Red to take a 19-14 lead into halftime. McCallie entered the game averaging over 42 points a game and over 450 yards of offense to lead all Division II teams. MBA's defense played with heart all night and was able to shutout the Blue Tornado in the second half and held their potent offense to their lowest offensive scoring output of the year. The offense continued to roll as MBA will advance to host Baylor in the next round of the playoffs.
