MBA 8th Grade Defeats CPA 26-6 to Open the Season

Coach McMurray
The 8th Grade Football team started the season with a rousing 26-6 victory over a solid CPA team. On the second play of the game, defensive end Jordan Dayani set the tone for the day, as he knifed into the backfield, securing the trifecta of a sack, forced fumble, and recovery. The Big Red dominated from then on.

The dependable and ferocious offensive line of Walker Musser, Jackson Green, Nathan Williams, Ryan Russell, Zeke Stroud, and Luke Beemer controlled the line of scrimmage all day, opening up lanes for the committee of MBA backs. Corbin Clifton, Nate Holder, Hutton Wall, and Jake Moore pounded the running lanes and punished Lion defenders. Quarterback H McIllwain connected for three touchdown passes to Blake Ragsdale, who had a huge game receiving and playing D line. All game long, McIllwain was accurate and poised, and he also turned heads with some huge runs that kept the chains moving. Holder later on exploded across the goal line, running for the final score.

On defense, Clifton, Holder, and Samuel Trumble led the way, as the Microbes were the more physical team, and seemed to be a step ahead of the Lions all the way. Hutton Durrett put the game on ice with a late interception. This was truly a team win, and a fitting way to begin the year for a group that has worked so hard and been so devoted to each other.

Next up is a trip to Father Ryan on Tuesday to take on the combined Central Catholic team. Roll Red!
