The MBA Crew is beginning its 8 th season. This spring marks a series of new beginnings for the program. The team will row this spring out of Commodore Yacht Club. This new location drastically reduces the commute time for the boys while providing a sheltered water way that will allow them to get much more water time. This will also be the first spring season under the helm of Coach Kesor. Finally, this will be the first time that the MBA Crew enters the spring season having posted an overall winning record against McCallie during the previous fall.
The boys began training in the weight room and on the rowing machines during the first week of January in order to prepare for racing in April and May. The 19 boys looking to build upon the success of the fall season are:
Seniors: Joe McMahan, Jack Reineke, Noah Wamble and Ben Gauldin
Juniors: Owen Hughes, Sebastian Bess, and Anderson Flack
Sophomores: Carson Reisinger, Reagan Sparks, Aidan O’Dwyer, Brandon Lewis, John Preston, Marshall Summar, James Vest, Cannon King
Freshmen: Wesley Hirschman, Ben Patterson, Landis Hall, Brennan Minkoff.
The first 3 races of the spring season will be in the Nashville area, the first at Percy Priest Lake, the next two at Commodore YC. Afterwards, the team will travel to competitions in Oak Ridge and Chattanooga before heading to the Midwest Scholastic Championships in Zanesville, OH. At this regatta, MBA will compete against more than 60 teams from 8 states in order to, hopefully, secure a bid to the SRAA National Championships in Camden, NJ.
