MBA Debate Wins National Championship

The MBA Debate team had unprecedented success at the National Debate Coaches Association (NDCA) National Championship. Advancing five teams to the octafinals, the squad was then able to advance three teams to the quarterfinals. Those three MBA teams won all of their matches, resulting in three of the four teams in the semifinals being from MBA. The last remaining non-MBA team was Eagan High School (Texas).

Chanden Climaco ('23) and Raleigh Maxwell ('24) defeated the Eagan team, creating an all-MBA final round. Therefore, the tournament ended as a close-out, making Jack Young ('23)/Cy Turner ('24) and Chanden Climaco/Raleigh Maxwell Co-National Champions. Sanjith Geevarghese ('24) and Marshall Green ('23) were the third MBA semi-finalist team.

This was the first close-out of the NDCA National Championship in 12 years and only the second time in its history. Also, no school has ever had three teams in the semifinals of any national championship tournament. This was MBA's second time winning the NDCA national championship, with the previous one being Aden Barton ('20) and Julian Habermann ('19) in 2019.
