7th Grade Football Defeated By Smyrna Middle School

MBA's 7th Grade Football Team was completely overwhelmed by a very physical, very talented Smyrna Middle School Varsity team (combined 7th and 8th grade) on Tuesday.  In route to what will certainly be their second consecutive undefeated season and their sixth consecutive Rutherford County middle school championship, Smyrna scored 38 points in the first 12 minutes of the game, which implemented the mercy rule and a running clock to quickly close out the half.

Fortunately, Smyrna's coaching staff agreed to play the Junior Varsity team (mainly 7th graders) during the second half in order to make the game more competitive.  At the urging of Coach Jenkins to approach the second half as a new game with no score, the Big Red showed a great deal of heart and character by playing Smyrna's Junior Varsity to a 0-0 tie.
