The high school and junior school Science Olympiad teams traveled to MTSU March 1 to compete in the Middle Tennessee regional competition for an opportunity to advance to the state tournament. The junior school team won medals in 14 of the 23 events, bringing home 4 gold medals, 3 silver, 2 bronze, and 5 medals for 4th through 6th place finishes. Julian Habermann, Lucas Pao, and William Stewart each brought home 4 medals. Every member of the junior school team earned at least one medal to complete the total team effort that resulted in a 3rd place finish in the team competition. The high school team won medals in 12 of the 23 events. Strong performances by seniors Tarun Mallipeddi (4 medals), Sam Papel (3 medals), and Henry Ingram (3 medals) resulted in the team defending their 7th consecutive regional championship. Both the junior school and high school teams advance to the state tournament at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville on April 12. The high school team will be competing for their 5th consecutive state title and their 6th state title in 8 years.
