MBA is pleased to announce that the National Merit Scholarship Program has selected 18 members of the Class of 2016 as National Merit Semifinalists. The total represents more than 14 percent of the class and is the most recipients for any school in the state for the second consecutive year.
The list includes: Yavin Alwis, Charlie Bailey, Alex Boone, Cole Campbell, Tony Ding, Drew Gordon, Hunter Hamilton, Carter Heckle, Matt Hopp, Carter Lovvorn, Cameron McDonald-Surman, Chapman Malone, Sam Rhodes, Wes Richardson, Jay Shackleford, Jackson Wooten, Alvin Zhang, and Andy Zhu.
These boys join the list of nearly 900 MBA students recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation since 1981.
This year, there are approximately 16,000 National Merit Semifinalists across the country chosen from the 1.5 million entrants from 22,000 schools in the competition. About 90 percent of the students selected as Semifinalists are selected as Finalists, and approximately half of that number attains the National Merit Scholar title.
